Cairo
Cairo's debut album (released in January of 1995) has met with critical
acclaim for its skillfil musicianship and its superb technical quality.
Once again, Cairo has created a mood for the album's opening "Speak
To Me/Breathe" cut.
Rob LaVaque
Co-Leader and keyboard player for the American band, Dark Side Of The Moon.
Rob has been recognized as a musical visionary for many years and has put
together several bands which have gathered large followings throughout the
US and Canada. Rob is noted for his technical expertise and his intimate
knowledge of all things Floydian. Rob performs his version of "On The
Run" completely live and with samples and sound bites that he has created.
Shadow Gallery
Emerging from Pennsylvania with the second release ("Carved In Stone"),
Shadow Gallery treads the same territory as groups such as Dream Theater,
Queensryche and Fates Warning. Dramatic music played with fiery intensity.
Shadow Gallery went to great lengths to record their version of "Time".
They even recorded the chimes at the beginning of the piece at a world renown
"chime museum" which happened to be located not far from where
they live.
Dark Side Of The Moon
Led by Rob LaVaque and guitarist Jon-Michael Engard, Dark Side Of The Moon,
is a very unique concept. The band pays total homage to Pink Floyd because
its live show is an amazing re-production of Pink Floyd's famous album as
well as the entire "Wish You Were Here" album. From sound effects,
to original video footage and lasers, Dark Side
Of The Moon recreates a Pink Floyd concert experience at each one of their
shows. It is easy to see why this group has become an attraction throughout
the Northeastern US and Canada.
Magellan
Recognized by most followers of progressive rock as one of the leaders in
the revitalization of the genre, Magellan has turned the Floyd radio favorite
inside-out with its updated version of the classic. Listen to the subtle
snare drum/brush work at the beginning of the sax solo and the jazzy horn
lines that show up later in that section. Tongue-in-cheek Magellan humour
abounds throughout the entire cut.
Enchant
Having had their debut album released in Europe and Japan before it was
ever put out in the US, Enchant is one of those bands which is not as well
known in their home country as they are in other parts. Their powerful version
of "Us And Them" will become a favorite in CD players all over
the world.
World Trade
Lead vocalist, Billy Sherwood, is best known for his work with Yes in the
studio and as part of their touring band. World Trade turns in a wicked
version of "Any Colour You Like".
Robert Berry
Robert Berry is best known for his work with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer
in "3" as well as for his stint in the band, "GTR".
An amazing talent, Robert Berry does it all. His work on "Brain Damage"
is superb where he plays every instrument and does an evocative vocal.
The album's final cut, "Eclipse", features the vocalists from
each of the groups that appear on this album in the finale of the great
piece of rock history. Every word that is sung is infused with the emotion
of the original version as well as an extra added element of respect for
the originators. Each of the bands showcased on this album worked separately,
yet each strived to maintain the thread that would connect all the pieces
of this high-concept album. Every band which appears on "The Moon Revisited..."
was profoundly influenced by Pink Floyd and wanted to be a part of this
tribute. To put together a record such as this was a major effort musically
and logistically but all parties involved felt that "tribute"
was the motivating force.
